Lee J. Stair, the now deceased past President of "Mid-Lakes Manufacturing Co." in Knoxville, Tennessee was the inventor of the mesh nylon practice jersey among many other net inventions that he came up with. Lee was succeeded by his son David as President of the company which is one of the largest sport netting and fishing netting companies in the world. He traveled the world over and spent much of his time in France helping a company set up netting machines. He was also a frequent pheasant hunting companion of Trygvie Lee, first Secretary General of the United Nations. The company is still in operation and still based in Knoxville near where Mr. Stair lived in Clinton, Tennessee.
