What is the difference between rims for front and rear wheel drive cars?

Sorry this is an incorrect statement : "there is no physical difference between rims on cars that are front vs. rear wheel drive. The differences lie almost completely within the drivetrain itself."

Traditionally a RWD vehicle will take a rim of neutral to negative offset. A FWD vehicle takes a rim with positive offset.... the confusion is with new RWD ie late 80's on rwd as they have tended to be positive offset at well... eg late model Corvette/Camaro/Mustang

It all relates to OFFSET
