Can one do to reduce one needs for electrical energy?

In the most general terms, you can (1) turn off equipment that you don't need, (2) abstain from certain luxuries, or reduce them, and (3) use energy-efficient equipment. Finally, there are some additional tweaks you can use. For example, for point (1), you can turn of lights that you aren't using; for point (2) you can reduce the use of an electric heater (and use a jacket instead, if it is cold), or reduce the time under the shower if you use an electric shower. For point (3), one important detail is the use of energy-efficient light bulbs.
