What are the symptons of a bad egr valve on 2002 300m Chrysler?

if it does not open you will get a engine light and also high emissions (nitrous oxides will fail.. if it is stuck open car will not idle unless you hold the gas pedal down to keep it running it creates a big vacuum leak when stuck open
