Hi:
Guess what,,,, there are quiet a few variables to play with within this question you have asked.
More air movement = more noise
Again,, how much noise can you tolerate? More pitch at fixed speed = more noise
tendency they will have to create that chopping sound we have all come somewhat accustomed to in variable degrees
get!!!!!,,,,,, Sooooooooooo,,,, how much noise can you tolerate?
per given rate of speed. ( but can your ceiling box hold the additional weight of a larger fan???? My general rule of thumb when mounting a electrical ceiling box that is in all probablility going to or someday will hold up a ceiling fan is to install it so that I'm not scared to put my full body weight on it by literally hanging on and stepping off the ladder. The equation for this is wierd but none the less,,, ( Very Very & Long Term Reliable ) 223 pound man swinging from a 4x4 ceiling box safely = good and strong mounting hardware for said box and fan. LOL,,,, nuts huh ???? Codes actually only require the ability to hold 50 lbs in my area. ( But ) would you want your toddler under there playing ??????Me thinks not.
Hope this helps:
