Significance of a brown owl

Owl is one of the creatures of nature that has had a different significance to very nearly every group of man to come into contact with it. I have heard them interpreted variously as: astral projection, clairvoyance, death, deception, divination, magic (both good and evil), night (a symbol of ), perception, perseverance, medicine -the practice of (herbal and western), truth, visions, and wisdom. There are enough beliefs about hearing and/or seeing owls to fill a large book. What I guess I'm saying here is that Owl, most likely has a personal significance to you, good, bad or indifferent, and that would be the way you should interpret it.
