Conditioned response is a type of learned response in which the brain associates a stimulus to an effect. The classic example is from Pavlov's experiments where dogs associated the ringing of a bell as signifying that they were going to receive a meal and would therefore begin to salivate just by hearing the bells even if they could not see or smell the food. Conditioning as a type of learning is very useful in the training of animals. Reverse conditioning(exposure therapy) is also useful in the treatment of behavioral disorders such as phobias where a person needs to unlearn a conditioned response which may be harming their quality of life.
