What is the Price of a hk 45 caliber usp compact?

I just bought one (effective 12-19-2008). It cost me about $979 plus a few related costs (registration for $30, and a gun-safety test for $25, and a locking mechanism for $10, all mandatory in California) Was I overcharged? I don't care...its the gun I wanted!! Bri
