Special purpose map

"What's a special purpose map?" is a map that may show watercourses, streams and rivers, etc in an area. Or it may show country boundaries, or village buildings and surrounding field systems. In all examples above, details such as road layout, and other general physical features normally shown on a map, may be shown in faint detail, or not at all, so as not to hide the specific purpose that the map was originally published to show.
