I'm not familiar with specs. of the 4.0 V-6. What I can tell you is I pulled my boat (1999 Stratos 17.5' 150 Evinrude) from S.E. Minnesota (Winona) to Yellowstone (1150m) with a LOADED down 1996 Chev. Astro van with a 4.3L V-6, auto and I dragged the same boat twice to Port Mansfield, TX. (1550m), once with a 1999 Ford F-150 4x4 with a V-6, 4 spd., in the 285 C.I. range (don't remember exactly) and once with a 2003 Chev. Silverado 4x4 with a 288 C.I. V8, auto. Had no problems on any of the trips. You won't win any races, but it can be done. Pulling it out at the landing would be my biggest concern. Boats that size are very heavy. BTW, The F-150 also had a large, cab-over, slide-in camper to carry along. Hope hat might help. Also, 3 months ago, I was looking at a Ford Escape at the dealer's and I asked if it could handle a boat that heavy. They didn't say no... but they also didn't say yes, either!
