How can someone with a low credit score clean their credit?

One should find out what their credit score is first, by purchasing a report from one of the three major credit companies. To help raise a low credit score, one must pay all bills on time and pay chunks of debt down on any high balance credit cards. Lowering total amount of debt owing and paying bills on time are both great and effective ways to lower credit scores, but will take time, at least a year before results are seen. One could also try purchasing a secure credit card where you pay a specified amount to a bank and they give you that balance on a credit card, if it is paid off when used and the balance is kept low this will also lower a bad credit score over time.
