Kublai Khan was Ghengis Khan's grandson. He inherited and ruled what is now China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, and most of Siberian Russia in 1264 after the death of his brother. He ruled about one-fifth of the known world at the time and created the Yuan Dynasty in China. Ghengis Kahn was the original ruler (Kahn) of the Mongul Empire. He united all the nomadic tribes, through both peace agreements and wars.
