How does throwing a picket fence downwards affect your readings?

It does not, it only relieves the tension of your not being able to read as well as you would like to. You may get a few splinters in your hand but that will teach you not to loose your temper or fall for some old wives tale. Far better to read out load and learn to put expression into your voice.
