A picture would help. There are several varieties, as well as a circulating counterfeit from the time, copper trial and souveneir strikes, modern counterfeits of all the varieties, and a modern undersized and modified design button that appears on ebay occasionally [no, it is not a pattern]. A GENUINE 6-star is around $4,000 or more, the GENUINE common varieties between $300-$750, better strikes and UNC worth more, poor strikes, planchet problems and circulated worth less, the circulating counterfeit rarely comes on the market so it is hard to value it (I have one that I value, it shows the piece circulated during the Revolution), the modern counterfeits are worth silver bullion and often appear on ebay, usually with the comment "I don't know anything about this coin, I am not a coin collector" or some variation of that.
