The peroxide ion is '-O-O-H^(-)'.

Note the two oxygens are singly bonded together.

There are peroxiy acids. e.g. CH3C(=O)-O-O-H ( Ethanperoxy acid).

Peroxy's are often used to initiate a polymerisation process.
