Hawaii does not have prairies in the traditional sense, as its landscapes are more characterized by volcanic formations, forests, and unique ecosystems. However, some areas, such as the grasslands on the islands of Molokai and Lanai, can be loosely compared to prairies. These regions feature open grasslands and scrub vegetation, often referred to as "pāhoehoe" grasslands. The term "savanna" can also apply to some areas in Hawaii where grasses and a few scattered trees coexist.
