How long did it take to make the first peep?

The first Peeps marshmallow candies were created in 1953 by the Rodda Candy Company. Initially, each Peep was hand-formed and took about 27 hours to make due to the time required for the marshmallow to set and be decorated. Over the years, production methods were streamlined, significantly reducing the time needed to produce these iconic treats. Today, the process takes only about six minutes.
