How has the adaptation evolved over time to help animals or plants live?

Adaption of animals or plants helps them survive because they adapted to fit into their enviorment. If they had not adapted, they are at a disadvantage to those that did adapt. When adaptations build up over time, it could become an evolution where the animal wouldn't look like the original animal that didn't evolve
