How long does it take for a farm to be organic?

The time that it takes a farm to become organic depends upon location. A certified organic farm has to meet governmental requirements, participate in inspection schedules and submit paper work. The process of acceptance in the United States is preceded by a 36-month transition period during which the non-use of no chemical, genetically modified, non-organic, synthetic inputs, methods or resources must be verified.
