ok so lets say that you have the probelem4x+19=27 first you want to subtract 19 from each side to isolate it.

-19 -19

4x=8 now since it's saying 4 times x you have to divide each side by 4.

/4 /4

x=2 there you go. now you see that x=2. to check the answer you can plug in 2 for x.

4 times 2+19=27

4 times 2=8 so,

8+19=27

8+19 is 27 so,

27=27.
