Why the Tennis score is counted as 15 - love instead of 15 - zero?

It seems to have been adapted from the term 'play for love' (i.e to play for nothing).

There has been conjecture that it is derived from 'l'oeuf', which means an egg, because of the shape of the egg is the same as zero.
