How do you remove vat?

If the question is how to calculate a price before V.A.T.

then for example if tax is 20% and price including tax is 8.40

then divide by 1.2

So 8.40 / 1.2 = 7.00

Or if tax is 15% then divide by 1.15 and so on ...
