I think that you should try to explain how their behaviour makes you feel. If they do not respect your feelings then there would be no point of keeping this friendship as they may not have been a friend at all as true friends don't treat one another in such a manner. To be best friends, you should support each other in all the ups and downs in life and shouldn't do anything to upset or hurt the other one in any sort of manner. A best friend wouldn't stand to see the other one cry. This is just like being friends with your own bully yet allowing it. If you feel nothing is going to change you will have to distance yourself from this person, leave the so called friendship behind and move on - spend time with your other friends.
