Why do some Portuguese motorcycles have yellow registration plates?

Portuguese governement make difference between motorcycles. A motorcycle with less than a 50cc and 8hp engine have a yellow plate are named of "motorizadas", more than 50cc and 8hp have a white plate, named "motociclos"
