Why does your car make a noise when ticking over or in 2nd gear when slowing down?

Best guess for this is any of a 1,000 causes, BUT if I am hearing you correctly I am BETTING it is a EXHUAST LEAK... Or please explain if you mean ticking, or taking over like passing?
