How many times to touch does it take for your Elf on the Shelf to loose his powers for good?

If you want to be really true the elf on the shelf is real but during the night when you are sleeping your parents move it so you can be suprised because a little stuffed puppet cannot have powers or magic so that means it does not take any touches to make it not have powers or magic

the reason i know is because if you read closely in the book it says in order to move parents have to move it and because i do have a child that had one and it didn't move for 3 days but once i moved it it stayed there
