Is group A strep a normal flora?

Group A Streptococcus (GAS), specifically Streptococcus pyogenes, is not considered a normal flora in healthy individuals. While it can be found in the throat and on the skin of some people without causing symptoms, it is not part of the typical microbiota. Instead, it is often associated with infections, such as strep throat, scarlet fever, and skin infections.
