In the old days, rolaids worked okay. I am not pregnant, but hot tea (any kind) works wonders. Simethicone (Gas-X, Mylanta Gas..) is the only over the counter gas reducing product for anyone (pregnant or non-pregnant) and is classified as Pregnancy Category C (conventional forms). No congenital defects have been associated with the drug, but the information that we have about it is not enough to support its use unless your ob/gyn believes it is in your best interest. Gas is a common problem during pregnancy, particularly due to the changes in a woman's body. Although maybe a little embarrassing (go to your room, close the door), one trick that works is if you get on your hands and knees (you can be on the floor or on the bed) with your tummy resting comfortably on the bed without too much pressure, lift your rear in the air. You may want to put pillows under your stomach for support. This position will help release intestinal gas.
