How much did it cost to place a long distance phone call in the 1960's?

It was. fairly expensive. Only one company had control of the phones. It was the Bell phone company. If you wanted a phone you had to buy them from them and no one sold phones other than them. In the 1980's Bell was declared a monopoly and was broken up and ATT@T was born. At first there were a lot of mini Bell companies, but eventually they bought each other out and the monopoly was morphed into what we have today. There were no cell phones in this time and the introduction of cell phones after 1984 changed all sorts of things.
