Which Europeans first explored in Northeast region?

The Norse explorer Leif Erikson is believed to have been one of the first Europeans to explore the Northeast region of North America in the early 11th century. Additionally, John Cabot explored the Northeast coast in 1497 under the commission of King Henry VII of England.
