How do you get a Bose SA-3 amp to work without a Bose lifestyle system?

Per the instruction manual, connect your input to the L/R RCA inputs. You also need to flip the 2nd switch up to allow the RCA inputs to work. The amp works fine without a Lifestyle connected to it.
