What does Romans 8 verse 2 mean?

The Holy Spirit in Romans chapters1-7 is mentioned only once. But in chapter 8 He is referred to nearly 20 times. The Holy Spirit frees us from sin and death (vv 2,3); enables us to fulfill God's law (v4); changes our nature and gives us strength to overcome our unredeemed flesh (vv5-13); confirms our adoption as God's children (vv14-16); and gurantees our ultimate glory (vv17-10).

Romans 8:2 (we are talking about persons who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior) The Spirit has taken that old law of sin and death from us and has given us the law of the Spirit of life. We have been born again and the law of sin and death has been replaced by eternal life.

8:1 tells us that, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit".

What does Romans 8 verse 2 mean?

Romans 8::2 is about "the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus ":-

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free [set me free] from the law of sin and death.

However, The Bible was not originally written in Chapters. To understand Romans 8:2 it must first be compared and contrasted with "this body of death" and "the law of sin" 'earlier in Romans 7:23-25:-

Romans 7:23-25

23 But I see a different law in my members waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that is in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

This means that while the law of sin and death will be with us as long as we are in this body, it doesn't necessarily have dominion: we must make a choice between the Spirit of life on the one hand and the body of death on the other.

Everyone must make a choice:-

Matthew 7

13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.

14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Jesus wants us to have life:-

John 10

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John wrote his Gospel so that people would believe the Gospel and choose life:

John 20

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The Gospel is extraordinarily simple: it comprises just 3 things:-

1 Corinthians 15

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel ...2 By which also ye are saved, ...

3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
