To a deity who cares, quality is preferable to quantity because it shows attention to detail and an appreciation of the finer things in life. If this "god" is thought to have created the universe, it is understandable that he would like something/one to admire his handicraft. Much like the vanity of an artist who wants nothing more than to have millions of people look at their creations.

Quantity, on the other hand, indicates an obsession with producing a large number of units; a process that relegates quality to a secondary (at best) concern. This focus indicates an individual whose spastic nervous system doesn't allow them to relax long enough to truly enjoy aesthetics. To the god who loves quality, the quantity-man is lesser because of his lowered ambition.
