What happens in the movie catfish?

WARNING: Spoiler alert.

So basically the new indie film flavor of the week, Catfish, is being marketed in trailers as some kind of Horror flick.

It's not.

If you are looking for a full spoiler explaining what happens in greater detail, check out the totally competent review over on IFC's site sometime.

But basically, here's what happens in this faux documentary movie: the girl he has a crush on turns out to be a bored, soft spoken housewife who tends full-time to two profoundly disabled sons.

She manufactures her happy life, flirtatious personality, and bohemian family members to escape, not expecting to meet one of her internet pen pals in person.

So... A bit creepy, sure, but not by any stretch of the imagination terrifying.

Mostly just sad, and all too human. Trust nothing you read online, unless it's on Outlaw, of course.
