What do people use propolis for?

Propolis has been used for many years as a component in fine varnishes for such things as Musical Instruments.

It has also been proposed as a treatment for a number of medical problems, although I can find no record of any scientific investigation to validate these claims.

What is known is that propolis has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.
