Spartan women enjoyed more freedoms and responsibilities compared to their Athenian counterparts; they were educated, engaged in physical training, and managed household affairs while men were away at war, which allowed them a degree of independence. In contrast, Athenian women were largely confined to domestic roles, with limited education and little public presence, focusing primarily on managing the household and raising children. While Spartan women had more social and economic rights, both groups were ultimately restricted by societal norms and expectations regarding their roles in ancient Greece.
