MOPP is an acronym for Mission Oriented Protective Posture (pronounced "mop"). The military term is used to describe protective gear to be used in a toxic environment, i.e., during a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear (CBRN) strike. The five MOPP levels (0 through 4) denote standard protective measures for the various levels of contamination that are encountered or expected.
