Eudoxus of Cnidus was an ancient Greek astronomer, mathematician, and scholar who lived around 390-337 BCE. He is best known for his contributions to the development of the geocentric model of the universe and for his work on the theory of proportions, which laid the groundwork for later developments in mathematics. Eudoxus also made significant advancements in understanding the motion of celestial bodies and is credited with the introduction of the concept of homocentric spheres. His ideas influenced later astronomers, including Aristotle and Ptolemy.
