How does an individual clean an engraving machine?

There are several types of engraving machines Rotary and Laser. While the Laser has not much in the way of clean up, the Rotary on the other hand has residue stuck to the adhesive. Both types of machines are cleaned with a soft cloth and oil, but the rotary has to be taken apart to do this task, and the laser does not.
