How do bronchodilator drugs affect the FEV and MVV measurements?

in simple terms bronchodilators are going to relax the bronchi, increasing their lumen size. thus the person is going to be able to increase inspiratory and expiratory volume as the bronchi are more relaxed and thus more oxygen can flow in and out.

thus the FEV is also going to improve as they can get more air out due to the more relaxed bronchodilator.

in Asthma one disgnostic factor is that their FEV1 is reduced compared to their VC. Bronchodilators will improve this.

**NB: Bronchodilators will not have much of a significant affect on normal lungs, only in lungs of asthmatics, Bronchitis etc....
