95 Jetta Starts then engine races shut it off and it will not start till approx next day does start fine but will not idle shut down and won't start again?

i would make sure the EGR Valve isn't sticking, and it's circuitry. Also may want to check Idle controle solenoid and it's circuitry.throttle linkage may be sticky too. check all connections under hood.might want to check the computer(may be faulty). hope this helps some. good luck
