I am planning a trip to Japan from Charlotte later in the year around late May or early June and would like to fly Delta or a Delta partner to get skymiles. Where should I fly out of to save money?

...I live in charlotte and I don't mind driving somewhere close (Atlanta/DC) to get a cheaper flight. I've heard that you can fly for under $1,000 but everything I'm finding is over that. I'm trying to get something around $750 or $800 if possible. I would also be up for catching a flight to another city if it's a lot cheaper than flying from around here if I could still make it cheaper. If anyone has flied/flies to Tokyo frequently, I would appreciate the help!
