Offlcial date world war 2 ended?

There is no universally agreed upon date. Some argue that it ended on Aug. 14, 1945 (V-J Day, which stands for Victory over Japan Day) instead of Japan's actual surrender on Sep. 2, 1945. In some European histories, it ended May 8, 1945 (V-E Day, which stands for Victory in Europe Day). The end date depends on where you stand.
