Did Nietzsche think that life is meaningless?

Nietzche Popularized the idea that God is dead and therefor it stood to reason that life was meaningless.

Nietzsche was an extremely interesting and complex personality. Any discussion can only be brief. An online search will yield thousands of interesting sources of in depth information. He was terribly wrong about a lot of things and wonderfully right about a lot of things. His insight on many topics can be stunning. There is so much more to his idea that life is meaningless.

Nietzsche thought that Christianity was a fraud. He hated its teachings that imposed a confining framework for life by insisting that there was a life beyond this one. He hated the reality that so many people wasted this life for a promised afterlife. He hated the fictional burden of guilt imposed by religion and how it stifled human development. He thought the very idea of a need for meaning was a product of Christianity that manifested itself in illusions of meaning. Christianity created in itself the ultimate meaning for existence and was used by the patriarchal White Man to dominate the world.

Nietzsche didn't see 'meaninglessness' as a problem. He saw it as an opportunity. He thought if we were free from the needfor meaning then humanity could remake itself: Freedom provided an opportunity for self-improvement with the goal of becoming a super person being fully in charge of one's own existence
