Reasons to move west in early America?

There are many answers to this question but the main answers would be: Manifest destiny (making U.S. stretch from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean), Gold (Gold Rush in the West), Land (land was given away or sold for cheap in western U.S.) to start a new life (many people were poor or in dept) freedom for runaway slaves
