IC 1101 is often considered one of the largest known galaxies in the universe. Located in the Abell 2029 galaxy cluster, it is roughly 6 million light-years in diameter, making it significantly larger than the Milky Way. Its massive size and luminosity suggest it has accumulated a vast number of stars, but the title of "largest galaxy" can be subjective and may change as new discoveries are made. Other galaxies, such as UGC 2885, also vie for the title based on different criteria.
