What city was the starting point for both the Oregon and santa fe trails?

Independence Missouri marks the beginning of the santa fe, Oregon and California trails. To commemorate this history, every year there is a celebration in Independence called SANTACALIGON. There is food, carnival rides, and crafts.

I know this to be fact because I grew up there, and I studied Missouri history as part of my cirriculum in school.
