How do you ask your mum can you shave your legs?

im in exactly the same position actually!! cx i live in york, england and i am thirteen years old (14 in june it being october 2012 now)! my legs are really hairy its really unladylike and disgusting ... all my friends at school shave their legs which makes it really embarrassing when my friends find out that i dont!! in pe we wear very short skorts so my hairy legs are visible and i get a lot of funny looks!! i think i am the last person to start shaving aswell as the last person to show any signs of breasts or my period ... im very slow !! but one thing that is growing too fast on me is the hair on my legs , i need it removed! i keep dropping hints to mum like "i look like a gorilla" or "mum help my legs are so hairy its disgusting!" or just walking round the house with shorts on so she can see just how bad it is. i striked up conversations with her about how when you shave if you cut yourself does it hurt? and i asked my sister (in front of mum) when she started shaving. but my mum was oblivious to all these things so soon i knew it was no good!! it took me weeks to pluck up the courage to ask her if i could start shaving. i knew she might be hurt because she is used to me being her youngest daughter, the cute one, the small funny one and now all of a sudden i have grown up and want to start shaving my legs!! i finally asked her after even rehearsing how i would say it, and i knew it was nothing to worry about! it wasnt awkward atall and mum was delighted to be able to help me out and discuss my life and whats going on! she was more than happy to go and buy me a razor the next day and we had a girly night in whilst she taught me how to use one and how regularly i should shave! now she sees me as a completely different person and ive noticed lately shes been treating me like an adult aswell ... just go up to your mum and ask her; dont be afraid mums are keen to know and theyre probably afraid to tell you that you look like an ape!! theyre waiting to hear it from you xx
