The people working at the consulate also Mexican diplomats and they will not question their legal status in the US, therefore they will NOT report anyone to any American authority. When someone is the consulate of their country of citizenship they are protected by their countries laws . For example, a citizen in Los Angeles consulate is protected under Mexican law, you can say that you are in Mexico when you are in a Mexican consulate or embassy.
