That may be possible. You must appear at your court date and request it. The judge will decide whether to allow it. Many will, especially if you have extreme financial difficulties. Some courts will not allow it under any circumstances. Depending on the court, you may have to pay a processing or supervision fee while you are performing your community service, and you may have to be on probation.
